[He smiles, in a strange, almost knowing way at her comment.]

Oh? I see, but...I think you'll pick it up sooner than you might think.

[He moves one of his own pawns in return - starting moves, and there are only so many variations on how a game can go. He pauses for a moment, studying her closely for just a brief second.]

...Are you truly not worried for your safety? Though it is not thursday night, one would think meeting the organizer of the deadly game you all find yourself in to be quite the risky proposition.

I did see what you did to poor Ferdinand. That may have been a little uncalled for, but if you did wish me harm, I really don't think I'd be any safer in my room than I would be here. And since I'm here, I have a chance to talk to you like this.
