Hello everyone! We're a few days before the official round start, and we just wanted to open up the floor to you, the players, regarding the game's Discord server!

We've had questions about our Discord chat, namely regarding the lack of a NSFW channel on Discord, for more adult jokes and conversations. So, we would like to give an opportunity for our players, current and past, to share their opinions for and against the inclusion of mature content in the public discord. Keep in mind that if a channel ultimately is made, players will still need to observe the standards of conduct according to our OoC rules! The poll will close Tuesday, so get your votes in!

Lenga here, I'd like to explain my vote for "No!" NSFW channel in the server for 15 STrangers.

First of all, 15S has a recommended minimum character age of 15 and a hard limit of 13. This age limit is lower than some other murdergames. As such, we should continue fostering an environment where everyone feels comfortable playing and playing with characters aged 13-17. Furthermore, 15S has less overt sexualization than many other murdergames. There aren't sex toys coming out of the gacha, the locations page doesn't name this room or that as a great place to have a steamy date.

In a broader sense, 15S is a close knit game where all character journals are required to comment on the same comm pages. The Discord server is likewise centered around a single stream of content in #general. Of course previous segregation of content in #chat_dark and #spoilers has been successful. But there is one huge difference in the nature of adult/sexual content. Namely, adult/sexual content is naturally associated with the common non-adult discussion topic of characters being in ships. Every murdergame server I know of with an NSFW channel has seen non-adult ship discussion in #general become sexual and then require other players to point out that it's become sexual and should be redirected into the NSFW channel. Also, the volume of discussion occurring in the NSFW channel reduces the volume of discussion in the SFW channel, even if these are technically more neutral characterization topics that could fit in either. Players disinterested in sexual content, or who simply have no sexual storylines occurring in the game, feel excluded.

And nobody is asking characters to not be in ships, regardless of the characters' attributes like number and age. However, 15S players have refrained all this time from posting full-on smut threads in the pages on the comms everyone reads, and been satisfied conducting game-canon sexual relationships off-comm. (This has even always followed a different format from the subject line warnings for tasteful discussion of past abuse.) Therefore I think similarly graphic content should be avoided in the server that everyone uses.
