Round 2 Test Drive Meme

TEST DRIVE 1. ARRIVAL You're here, in the Mall. Wherever the Mall might be, right? And what happened to your powers? Your memories? Who else has been so unlucky as to be brought in with you? Also, why are the rules littered with emojis!? 2. POWER You have been, er, "blessed" with a power. Its not a power you want or care for, but its yours now. You might want to try an control it, lest you hurt someone else. That is...unless you want to. Just don't blow up any public property while you're at it! 3. HOME So now you live in a mall! All right! Modern conveniences galore! And hey, there's a cat cafe and a bar! Maybe living here forever won't be so bad. Unless you're looking for a way out, but surely, you wouldn't do that, right? 4. MINIGAME The Life Coach has decided to do 'games'. Those who win the games will get prizes, the Life Coach has promised. The Test Drive Meme's minigame: a costume contest! The best costume made in five hours wins! Work alone, or in teams - the Life Coach is ok with either~! 5. MOTIVE The Life Coach has announced the motive for the week. Clearly someone really wants to give you a reason to kill someone. How will you react? Will you stand against such an insult and help others to fight the temptation? Or perhaps, you yourself are tempted...? 6. DEATH One of your own has died - no, been killed. The Inquisition has started. The body lies before you, and now you must discern the truth from the clues before you. But can you when you mourn? Or, perhaps you don't mourn the dead. Perhaps you're only playing along because you know more than you let on. 7. TRIAL Well, it looks like the Life Coach wasn't kidding when they said there would be a trial. So now you're here, looking to condemn the responsible killer. If you do, they die. If you don't, you die. Whatever happens, you have to figure out what happened. Can you? 8. WILDCARD Anything not mentioned above. Go wild! |

Cesare Borgia || Cantarella ~Poison of Blue~
[ I. Arrival ]
[ This is not his beautiful bedroom
His beautiful rack of poisons are not here
His beautiful sister is nowhere to be found
What the absolute fuck.
He'll sit up and swing his legs over the bed, staring rather groggily at the small bedroom space. This is hardly befitting a noble. He'll grumble, and step out only to frown more because this... Doesn't look like anything in his world. Nothing in Rome. It's too advanced. ]
...Where am I?
[ III. Cats and Alcohol ]
[ No one said that Cesare Borgia was a social person. They also never said you couldn't grab alcohol and go hang out at the cat café, which is exactly what he's doing. He's grabbed the biggest bottle of vintage wine he could fine, inspected it to make sure there was no tampering, and then decided to sit here and let the cats pile on him while he drinks.
...He's generally in a rather miserable mood, because he very obviously doesn't know any of this technology at all and anyone around would have heard him earlier wondering, quite loudly, what a cell phone even is. ]
[ VI. Let the Bodies Hit the Floor ]
[ ...Of course. Someone's dead. He found them, here in the bridal center. Miss Margarita, who looked so eerily like his sister, had been strung up in place of a mannequin including the wedding dress. She looks almost peaceful, and that freaks him out the most.
He wishes he had more wine. ]
...I wonder if anyone will believe this isn't my work.
[ VIII. Wildcard ]
[ Any other scenarios are just fine, let's gooooo ]
VI
He'd been trying to get through to her. He almost thought he might have. She'd been around Claudia's age, and hearing her speak the way she did had been worrisome. But there had been hope among some of the group that maybe it wasn't too late to save her from an early death and an unhappy life.
Now, they would never know for sure.]
Damnit...
[Deep breaths. They would figure this out. They would figure out who did this to her and why. At Cesare's words, though, Fin can't help but look over at the other.]
Be pretty hard to refute it if the evidence points towards you.
[Which....they haven't even started investigating yet. And even if Cesare did do it, Fin doubts he'd save anyone the time and confess right then and there.]

[Says the guy in a red longcoat and pirate boots. The main way he could defend these clothes as relatively modern is the smooth synthetic material in a single layer. He's been leaning against the wall outside a bedroom (Is it worth it calling his own? Nah, it's just the one he came out of after waking up.) toying with the cell phone. With a snap of his wrist the phone is shut and goes in his coatpocket, while he steps forward extending his other hand to shake.]

Mira | Zero Time Dilemma
[Mira sits on a stool of the barcade, making a bewildered face as she reads the rules. An average person like her would be shocked by the prospect of murder in them, so that's hardly unusual, although right now her polished fingers are poking absently at the kaomoji in the rules.]
What are some of these even supposed to be....?
[Though honestly she's frustrated that they exist here at all.]
[Power]
[You are minding your own business in the ghost town of the mall, with seemingly no one around in sight, when suddenly:]
Hey! [MIRA IS DIRECTLY BEHIND YOU, WHERE THE HELL DID SHE COME FROM. The answer is basically wherever she wanted to, because her power is flash stepping. Still, it's kind of creepy having someone sneak up on you in a murder game... especially someone calm and collected who doesn't seem like they should be able to move that fast.]
[Death]
[In the worst scavenger hunt ever, someone has been dismembered with their body parts hidden all over the mall, and everyone's looking to find them - so of course Mira is helping! And wrapping up a severed limb to put in a cooler she grabbed from the department store. You can find her doing that, or if you are already in on the search, you may receive this text.]
Found the arm in Foofylicious. Did anyone figure out who it is yet?
Death [TW: DISMEMBERMENT, BURNS, EMETOPHOBIA]
Found the head.
[Another pause.]
It was in a fryer in Wok This Way.
It's female.
[There's a few people who it could be, but 1. it's really badly burnt, and 2. his own face is a bit too busy having a date with the nearest trash can to narrow anything down.
Just. give him a moment.]

Renne Hayworth | Trails series
[Well, Renne is definitely enjoying this place. In fact, she's already snagged herself an adorable dress from one of the shops and is trying out a skateboard at one point.
And then she also can be found happily petting the cats later on. Or maybe playing with the electronics. Or maybe your character is walking by and gets a random text message with a cat emote while she's hiding somewhere. One thing is for sure, she's enjoying herself a bit too much to want to leave anytime soon.]
[Minigame]
[Costumes? Oh yeah, Renne definitely is into this. Of course her skills at actually making a piece of clothing are not quite there. So someone may see a girl giving them cute puppy dog eyes when she needs help with a part of it. Or maybe they are working on a team together since she'd look adorable in nearly anything and that could be quite an asset for any team.]
[Death]
[So someone is now dead and guess who found the body? Of course it would be Renne. Strangely enough though, she doesn't seem in the least bit bothered by the corpse and is investigating it. Help her? Or try to drag her away from the corpse?]
Home prompt
[The man in the long coat stops his wandering around the halls once he gets the text. While he opens the cell phone itself with reasonable familiarity, the emote specifically gets him to frown in concentration. He pinches the screen by the corners to look at it on different angles. If this is a... no, that makes no sense, who would use that to start an actual conversation? That's it. Dio just has to ask. He literally puts his foot down, wearing black leather (and red rhinestone) cowboy boots that will leave a mark on the linoleum floors, and sets to hunting and pecking the letters in his reply one at a time.]

Minigame
... Isn't doing the work yourself more rewarding? You won't learn... if you don't try. ... But then again, I suppose you also can't learn if people don't help teach you... what kind of stitching have you been using?
Death
H-hey...Renne. You doing alright over here?
Goro Akechi | Persona 5 (Spoilers)
[It's not as if Akechi has never been to a mall before, but...usually? He knows how he got there. He also usually has his own cell phone, instead of a completely unfamiliar model that doesn't even have his apps on it. What it does have is profiles on himself and fourteen other people, and a list of rules that would look like they were written by a fourteen year old girl if not for...one particular thing. It figures. It always comes back to murder in his life, doesn't it?
Well, he's not about to let something so pedestrian as a kidnapper control his actions. Time to go look for a way out, as well as his fellow kidnapees. Surely they'll feel more comfortable knowing there's a detective among them, right? And a bunch of panicking idiots would only make getting his belongings back and punishing the person who abducted him harder.
Anyone else who happens to be looking around will be met with a young man who's...really, remarkably calm about the situation. He's hailing them by their surname, if they have one, in a highly professional tone for an eighteen year old.]
Do you have any memory of how you might have gotten here? Or, at the very least, been rendered unconscious for transport...
[Motive]
[To change your biggest regret, huh? Everything here seems unprofessional to an exceptional degree, but it seems they do know their victims. Except not well enough. All of his regrets, everything he wishes he hadn't done...they'd brought him too far to give up on. After a moment of quiet consideration, he shakes his head.]
Don't you think fourteen lives is too steep a price to pay for our own peace of mind? To say nothing of the fact that it would simply be trading one regret for another.
Besides, has anyone here ever heard of the butterfly effect? Even assuming it is possible to change the past, the full consequences of doing so would be impossible to predict.
[Wildcard-Regains]
[Gambling might be illegal in Japan, but Akechi can only ignore his curiosity for so long...despite not really trusting these vending machines. After trading in a bunch of his chips, he's ended up with a pile of random junk (that may or may not include someone else's random junk), along with a rather...loud, white and red outfit, complete with the beaked mask. The way he looks at it, it definitely seems familiar to him...though there's a perplexed look to his expression as he turns the mask over in his hands.]
It is quite the convincing likeness...
motive
I... yes, I suppose that is true. Changing the past is definitely one of the sins of magic. It's something you shouldn't do... and I think killing just to change one small thing that already happened... i-isn't that wrong?

come on detective... put those skills to use and guess which prompt i chose
He's been going around asking people what they know, as well; there's nothing okay about this situation, and he's determined to get to the bottom of this. No way in hell is he going to just stand idly by and accept this whole thing as is.
(Seriously, though, why the hell do those rules have it looking like they've been kidnapped by some kid...?)
There's a slight tilt of his head as he briefly studies the detective. So... he's here with at least one person he knows... Though, why are his memories of him so broken up? And he's... listed as a Phantom Thief?? How... the hell is that even possible? Ugh... Trying to force the memories isn't working, and the last thing he needs is a headache on top of all this. Best to focus on what he does know for now.
The last encounter he recalls is they'd been talking in Leblanc... The man (from the... elevator, right?) had been talking on the TV. He remembers a number of things after that point, but only with the other Phantom Thieves...
In any case, he's shaking his head. ]

Ursula Callistis | Little Witch Academia
[ Arrival. ]
[ ... Soooo the first thing Ursula does is read her paper, and then shake her head because what the actual fuck. She puts her hair up and kinda... hides it under her hat, and begins... searching... she is looking mighty shifty if I do say so myself, what is this strangely dressed woman searching for?! Seriously, she's not even trying to talk to anyone--if anything, she appears to be trying to AVOID people... and look around the various stores... ]
[ Power. ]
[ She doesn't know what to do with this. ALL HER POWERS ARE GONE, sob. On that note, so is her wand. She keeps trying to make potions, to at least do some kind of magic, but... well.
Once she makes the mixture, and attempts (read: attempts, with what ingredients she can find) using it on something small, like, say... restoring a broken item, it just backfires in a puff of smoke. This may or may not be due to her new """"powers"""". That she really... does not know what to do with.
She kind of sets things on fire. So have Ursula just cough-hacking and a bunch of smoke. ]
O-oh, no... and I had such high hopes, too...
[ Home. ]
[ She has... found the cat cafe. She has decided to nestle herself in here, with a very large book. And pet a kitty. She misses her bird, a little bit... but a cat is fine too. You can definitely bother her, if you want. ]
[ Wildcard. ]
[ Ursula is digging around "The High Scale", trying to find some typical witch's robes and whatnot. It's a little... oldschool, for her tastes, but it'll be nice if she can find something to suit. ... Honestly she looks pretty at home in this store, very much giving off the kind of vibe the store requires with her glasses and gentle demeanor. ]
My, it reminds me of the old days of the Academy...
Home
[Joey was probably in here before Ursula was, just playing with a cat with an embarrassingly goofy grin on.]
Yes, kitty. Catch the straw. Come on...oh, it escaped! You should catch it again. You can...oh he definitely grabbed it that time. Uh.
[Darn. Now how is she going to drink her daiquiri.]

Croix Meridies || Little Witch Academia
[ Well. The bed is far more comfortable than her desk. That's for sure. But she has to wonder when she got into a bed. Was she that tired? So she'll yawn, stretch and get up, getting ready to go back to work on gathering data and setting up her la--
This is not her room. Croix blinks once, twice, then pokes her head out into the mall. ]
...Strange. This isn't where I set up... What am I doing inside a mall?
[ She reaches for her phone, but... Wait, what? Why aren't her apps responding? She'll frown and look at the phone, then shrug and reach for the wand she keeps on her. Except it isn't there. What. ]
...Where's my wand? Why... Can't I access my magic?
[ ...She is steadily beginning to panic. ]
[ III. Explore Until Spice Gets Your Attention ]
[ After having her freak-out, Croix decides to actually figure out where she is and what all is in stock. When she can't leave, she'll just focus on what she can do. And for the most part, that's hanging out in the electronics and appliances section of the department store area, coming up with new ideas. So you might find her sitting in an aisle, drawing complicated schematics on pieces of paper.
...Or you might find her in Wok This Way, seemingly having found heaven. She orders the spiciest foods she can, happily slurping up noodles and chowing down like she can't even feel pain. She's a one-woman army and her battle is with spicy foods. ]
[ V. A Reason to Kill ]
[ Your greatest desire. Croix turns pale at the thought. She could claim the Claiomh Solais as her own, learn the Seven Words and breathe them to life... Save magic... The idea tears at her, and she won't even touch her noodles while she thinks on the motive given this time. It's a weird sight, given how much she loves spicy foods. ]
...A reason to kill, huh?
[ ...She isn't sure why she's hesitating. Maybe it's that every time she closes her eyes, she remembers the private show Chariot gave her to show her knowledge of Arae Aryrha. She remembers how she laughed that night, even as she tried to brush it off as ridiculous and playing games. Some part of her misses those innocent times. Maybe it's that she isn't even sure how she'd do it, though she could probably build a trap of some sort. Maybe it's that she simply doesn't want to play this game. ]
...I wonder...
[ Wildcard: Regains ]
[ Perhaps the one thing she didn't expect to be given to her via the chips was about three different flavors of cup noodle. Curry, teriyaki chicken and spicy lime shrimp. Whatever, she's good. She'll hoard her three new cup noodles and you might find her running off with them in her arms to go make them.
She may actually seem happy. ]
V
Chariot du NordUrsula. She knows exactly what Croix would kill for. And it haunts her. She picks at her food absently, but she can't seem to look at her. She... she wants to pretend she didn't hear that, but it's her. She'll do it. She has to talk her out of it, doesn't she?
For a long moment, she's silent. And she wonders. Would her former best friend... kill her? To get what she wanted? Because she eclipsed her for one bright, shining moment? ... ]
... You shouldn't... try to change the past.

Kurama | Yu Yu Hakusho
[Kurama might not like being here, but he's a past master of making the best of a bad situation until he can wriggle out of it. So the easiest way to find him is to check the gardening section. They have various already sprouted plants and not just seeds, along with everything needed to care for them.
And it doesn't really count as stealing if he never takes any of it out of the store, does it? He's just making sure the merchandise doesn't die. Even without his powers to help, dealing with the plants is soothing.]
As you're already here, would you mind passing me that watering can?
Motive
Mother... How dare you!
[The dark, raw anger on Kurama's face is all the more startling when the young man had handled most other things their captivity threw their way with grace, calm, and an admittedly rather trolling sense of humor. Clearly the threat to their loved ones back home strikes hard for him.
This, this is something he would kill or die for. Had killed for, in the past, had very nearly died for, willingly.]
I won't stand for this.
Motive (I would also like to apologize for him being like this)
[A voice rings out from someone standing a ways behind Kurama, objectively a pretty rude way to address someone, and giving off the impression that he was not motivated to run towards the announcement.]
Maybe, just maybe, when you kill someone you'll actually manage to take out the rest of us this time! Unlike everyone else who took the bait so far.
[Dio is just standing there, deliberately leaning against the wall with his hand in his pocket, and with his other hand raising the brim of his top hat so as to more easily look at the distressed comrades. Given that the motives are one of the only things that doesn't make him entirely uncalm and apt to be on the receiving end of trolling humor, he relishes the opportunity to tease other people.]

Keenan Caine || Bliss Stage || Parasomnia CRAU
Keenan has a sinking feeling of deja vu as he reads these rules, frowning at it. The note's no handwriting or printing he recognizes, and he's not sure why that's comforting.
So he's going to head out with the rules in hand, in his stupid wetsuit + biker armor, looking at what the place has to offer and any possible means of surveillance; and if he runs into people he's going to take the rules and ask: "So. Have you read these, man? Cause I really think everyone should really read these."
III: Home, or something like it
Time to be a better person. Uh, the better person. The adults have already managed to stop him from tending bar (spoilsports), but he did claim a restaurant in the name of sandwiches, egg dishes, and occasional card games.
Take care of the small needs so that everyone can keep staying human.
VI: Oh goddamn it
...and then someone had to fuck up the act like a decent human being thing.
Okay. Keenan is not going to fucking touch that. He's calmly taking a camera and snapping shots of this, muttering things. If he winces at some particularly deep wounds from that discarded, bloody kitchen knife, it's because it's physically gruesome - not because it's horrifying. He can help everyone mourn later. After he gets the clues they need to survive this.

[Okay. A mall is at least...sort of familiar. Although this is more like the idea of a mall on TV than any real malls she's personally experienced. And she's fairly certain whoever left this crazy note is the kind of person who lives in one of those malls. Still, now's not the time to panic. Well, it's exactly the time to panic, but that isn't going to help.]
Okay. Let's...assess my resources here. Crazy note. Clothes. Lack of internal monologue. No flashlight, tap shoes, or ballet shoes. So pretty much the cray note, clothes, and talking to myself in front of strangers. Yeah.
Oh and...is this some kind of super-tiny cell phone? Uh, not talking to myself, does anyone know?
3
[Mall homes are definitely somewhat convenient to be stuck in. Jude has lectured her quite a few times on how they're not actually that secure in the event of a zombie attack, contrary to what movies say, but even he'd have to admit that they're good for resources.]
Wow. I've never had this many batteries near at hand before. Despite everything else this is actually kind of great. I should probably pick up some clothes, too...
[Wait. Jude did say they aren't that secure.]
Hey uh...no one's seen a parking garage, have they?
4
A costume contest? Wasn't Halloween last month?
[Joey has to consider this a good bit.]
I don't even know what I'd do for that. It shouldn't be hard with all the clothing stores around, but I don't know what I'd even be. Also uh...is it really a good idea to just do whatever that lady tells us? I'm just saying, since we're kind of prisoners here.
1
[ That sure is a decently tall lady answering. And she seems to be playing with her own phone, though hers is different--custom-made and white. ]
They work with touchscreens and they're more compact because they don't need buttons aside from the volume control, the home screen button and the power button. Depending on the model, there might be more.

Karma Akabane || Assassination Classroom
[ Okay. So he'd woken up here. It wasn't his home and everything seemed just a little too weird for him.
Maybe that was why in a matter of minutes, Karma was just staring at the 'rules' with an almost bored look and a drink in his hand from one of the stores. He looks fairly skeptical, though has no problems dropping the paper and crushing it underfoot. ]
Are they really serious about this? If they're going to try and get everyone to kill each other, they should drop the cutesy emotes.
[ Minigame ]
[ Bless the poor soul who's around when this little thing gets announced.
There's nothing short of an absolutely devilish smile on Karma's face as he comes up behind the nearest person, a hand placing itself on their shoulder. This was an opportunity he could absolutely not miss out on, after all. ]
So. How about we work together and split the prize? Promise it'll be worth your while.
[ Motive ]
[ If anyone knows what the aura of absolute death and anger looks like when it's rolling off of someone? They'd not have to look too far, fiery hues alight with something dangerous and a smile that's a little too wide. He hasn't realized he's almost shaking, shoulders wrought with an unspoken tension.
They had the damn nerve to try and use the threat of losing loved ones?
Specifically a certain blue haired kid who happened to be his friend, his face staring at him from the photo clutched in one hand. Nagisa was incredibly competent when it came to Assassination, as much as he hated to admit it, and yet he was still human and the thought of someone taking away someone he gave a damn about was just incomprehensible.
He hadn't felt this way since that lying teacher backstabbed him.
A laugh ripped itself up from Karma's throat before he turned and punched the wall nearest him, not even seeming to care about the pain that had lanced up his arm. He'd treated everything like a joke up until now, but how the hell could he ignore this? ]
They really have no idea what they've done, have they?
